Welcome to Catholic Charities - Central California

We are here to empower the people of the San Joaquin Valley

In the wake of the deadly shootings that took place in downtown Fresno on April 18, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Fresno has created two scholarship funds in the names of the Catholic Charities clients Mark Gassett and David Jackson who had their lives taken from them on that tragic day.

These $2,000 scholarships named in their memory will be awarded on an annual basis and go towards a deserving individual in need so that they may have the opportunity to attend schools such as San Joaquin Memorial High School, Garces Memorial High School or even Fresno City College or Fresno State. Anyone living in the Fresno, Merced or Bakersfield areas wanting to better themselves by furthering their education is invited to apply.

Applicants must complete a 500 word essay on what the scholarship would mean to them and send to Catholic Charities, ATTN: Scholarship Committee, at 149 N. Fulton Street, Fresno, CA 93701. Scholarship recipients will be announced in the Fall.
