FX Singleton Emergency Food Program
This community service first took root in the late nineteen sixties, and regardless of religious affiliation, has helped prevent hunger throughout Fresno County.
The program, named after our very own late Monsignor Francis Xavier Singleton, maintains his Christ-like exemplary spirit of caring and compassion. The efforts of dedicated staff, and the resources made possible through grants, and donations, foster the growing demands of hunger within Fresno's worst poverty-stricken areas.
When families find themselves in an economic crisis situation, the program provides basic nutritious food items for five days, for each member of the family. The program served 88,000 in the year 2000 alone.
